About

Montalvo Machado is a Brazilian artist based in São Paulo, Brazil who operates from his creative hub, Sketcheria.

His art career started in advertising in the 1980s, and a decade later, he delved into packaging design by studying at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and illustration techniques at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City.

During the summers of 1997 and 1998, Montalvo studied at the Illustration Academy in Liberty, MO. He returned to the Academy in 2009 and 2016 to seek new horizons and inspiration. In addition to his own artistic explorations, Montalvo loves to share his knowledge through workshops and training sessions at art schools and universities throughout Brazil.

Since 2006, he has also been serving video producers, creating storyboards, concepts, and specializing in digital backgrounds for videos, animations, and films (Digital Matte Paint), blending 2D and 3D techniques.

His interests extend beyond paints and brushes; Montalvo also has a passion for bookbinding and sketchbook drawing, as well as exploring the world through the lens of photography. These hobbies naturally coexist with his regular artistic production.

Montalvo had the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned watercolorist Gonzalo Cárcamo at the Mangue Galeria in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, Ornitorrinco Gallery in São Paulo hosted his first solo exhibition, "Hiperfoco," revealing the diversity of his artistic vision.
