Born and resident in São Paulo, Brazil, Montalvo Machado always enjoyed drawing.
Searching for specialization, studied Package Design in SVA - School of Visual Arts, and Illustration Techniques in FIT - Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where he lived in 1990 and 1991. In 1997 and 1998 attended The Illustration Academy in Liberty - MO, returning in 2009 and 2016 to present workshops on Visual Perception and Live Model Drawing, this time in Florida and Kansas.
A variety of techniques are used on his on illustrations, drawings, studies, sketchbooks and canvas paintings, from digital 2D and 3D to conventional media.
His commercial works includes Character, Props, indoor and outdoor Scene Concepts, storyboards, Product Design, Matte Painting and Advertising imagery for local clients as Oca Filmes, Dínamo Filmes, Trattoria, Bullet, Vetor Zero, VTCine, Romeu e Julieta, Live Team, and others. For quite some time has published in Brazilian editions of Playboy, National Geographic, Audi Magazine, Superinteressante, Bizz, Gestão Empresarial, and many Special Edition magazines published by Editora Abril.
On his search for a more personal voice on his Art, paints oils, acrylics and mixed media on canvas, pastel on paper, and digital software for giclée prints for Art Galleries and private collectors.
Workshops and Art Training on his studio and in Art Schools and Universities has become an interesting path as well
Sketchbook binding and drawing are hobbies, in which Jazz musicians and urban landscapes are regular themes.
Montalvo has worked in many advertising agencies in São Paulo, Notan 3D Studio, and now is a digital artist in Vetor Zero, leading the Matte Painting department.
Sketcheria is his personal home studio, and has an eventual business partnership with Galeria e Estúdio Ornitorrinco, na Pompéia - SP, where his first solo exhibition “Hiperfoco” was presented in late 2014.
